“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10

Motherhood can move fast. One minute you’re rocking a newborn, and the next you’re managing busy schedules, messy kitchens, endless questions, and long days that seem to blur together. In the middle of caring for everyone else, it’s easy for joy to quietly slip into the background.

Not because you don’t love your children.
Not because you aren’t grateful.
But because the weight of everyday responsibilities can slowly dull your spirit.

In this episode of the Rooted Woman Podcast, we talk about what it looks like to rediscover joy right in the middle of ordinary life.

Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us that our strength doesn’t come from a perfectly organized life, a calm schedule, or well-behaved children. It comes from the joy of the Lord. And that kind of joy is different from the happiness the world offers. It’s not fragile or dependent on how your day is going. It’s deeper, steadier, and rooted in the presence of God.

So many moms try to find strength by pushing harder—being more productive, more disciplined, more organized, or trying to be the “perfect mom.” But Scripture reminds us that true strength flows from joy, not striving.

In this episode, we talk about the subtle things that steal our joy—especially perfectionism—and how we can begin cultivating joy again through simple, everyday rhythms like gratitude, presence, and noticing God in the ordinary moments.

Because joy doesn’t usually return through big life changes.
More often, it comes back through small, faithful shifts in perspective.

We’ll also talk honestly about how joy and pain can exist together. If you’ve walked through trauma, heartbreak, or long seasons of survival, joy can feel complicated. But biblical joy doesn’t require you to ignore your pain—it reminds you that pain doesn’t get the final word. God is still restoring, still healing, and still writing your story.

If you’ve been feeling worn down, overwhelmed, or stuck in survival mode, this episode will gently remind you that joy is not something reserved for perfect days. It’s something you can rediscover right where you are.

In this episode, we talk about:
• Why joy can quietly fade in the busyness of motherhood
• The difference between happiness and biblical joy
• How perfectionism steals our ability to enjoy everyday life
• The powerful role gratitude plays in restoring joy
• How joy and healing can exist together
• Simple ways to begin rediscovering joy in ordinary moments

Joy isn’t found in a perfectly managed life.
It’s found in the presence of a faithful God who walks with you through every ordinary moment.

And when we learn to live from that place, our joy becomes a source of strength—not only for us, but for the families we are raising.
